Another dose of #toastytuesday with this mouth watering caramelized mushroom and onion grilled “cheese” stacker!!! Just try and look at this without your stomach growling, I dare you!!
Seriously this sandwich is as good as it looks. I’m still shocked that Chao cheeses melt so well, which make them the best brand for grilled cheese!
This recipe is as simple as it gets and smells like heaven.
- 2 slices of bread, toasted
- 2 slices of Chao “Creamy Original” Cheese
- 1/4 of an onion, sliced thinly
- 1-2 baby Bella mushrooms, sliced thinly
In a small skillet on medium heat, pour one tablespoon of olive oil. Then when hot add in your sliced mushrooms and onions. Let both cook down low and slow for 5-7 minutes. The mushrooms and onions will become brown and caramelized.
While the mushroom and onions are cooking down, take out your slices of bread. Place both slices of Chao cheese on one side of the bread. Then place the bread into a toaster oven for a few minutes until the bread has browned and you begin to see the cheese bubble.
When the cheese is bubbly, you can remove it from the oven. Then place your caramelized onions and mushrooms on the slice of toast with cheese. Top it with your second slice of toast and enjoy!!!
